Besiktas Want Sulley Muntari

The Ghana midfielder is being increasingly linked with a move to the Istanbul giants.

Reports indicate that Turkish giants Besiktas are keen on signing Sulley Muntari.

The Ghana midfielder is currently a free agent, having come to the end of his contract at AC Milan, and while several sides have been linked to his signature, the Istanbul heavyweights appear set to make the first move, according to Sky Sports.

SuperSport report that Besiktas are keen to add two big-name signings to their squad this summer, having already recruited Portugal winger Ricardo Quaresma from FC Porto.

One recruit could be Mario Gomez, the Fiorentina striker who appears to be on the brink of a move to the Super Liga.

The other, according to the source, looks set to be Muntari.

The move would represent a positive step for the Ghana international, who is coming off the back of a torrid campaign in Lombardy.

The tenacious midfielder managed only 16 appearances in Serie A—of which 12 were starts—scoring two goals. He learned during the season that he was surplus to requirements at the San Siro, and subsequently made himself ineligible for selection. While his departure had appeared inevitable, his destination has remained a mystery.

Besiktas look to be in pole position to recruit the Champions League winner, but they may yet face competition for his services.

Both Everton and Hull City are understood to be keen on the player, while Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls and Bundesliga side Schalke 04 have both also been linked with a move.
