Police Prevents Junior Doctors From Occupying CAGD

About 200 police personnel are currently at the Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD) preventing junior doctors from entering the premise.

The junior doctors who have not been paid for 10 months had planned to occupy CAGD to express their frustration over their salary arrears.

Speaking in an interview on PEACE FM’s "Kokrokoo", spokesperson of the Junior Doctors, Dr Nana Kissi Attefuah said the police are stopping them from entering the premises of CAGD because "they claim we didn't seek permission before gathering".

He further expressed disappointment at how the state can deploy 200 police personnel for just 91 junior doctors who are “not going on demonstration and are not acting violently. We are angry; Yes but we are not acting violently. We are just here to present our documents for them to pay us our money. We are tired and we are hungry”

According to Dr Attafuah, the police instead of stopping them, should rather call for ambulances so that if they faint, they can be taken to the hospital.

“We are hungry…we have prayed and fasted for too long,” he added.
