Government Absorbs Community Senior High/Tech

The Azeem-Namoa Community Senior High Technical School [SHS] in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region has been absorbed by government under the President’s initiative of providing 200 additional SHS to deserving communities.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr. Alexis Ayamdor Adugdaa, announced this at a formal ceremony to cut the sod for the construction of the “E-styled project.”

The project, when completed, would have classrooms, administration block, a library, dining hall, dormitories, and modern sports arena, among other facilities.

Mr. Adugdaa who described President John Dramani Mahama as “a listening president,” said Education was a topmost priority of the people in the area.

He said, the President upon listening to the appeal made by the community members for additional Senior High School at Azeem-Namoa, answered them by issuing instructions for the school’s absorption, and the provision of the additional facilities.

He noted that with the completion of the project within the 18-month stipulated period, it would help admit more Junior High School graduates in the district and its environs.

The DCE stated that, so far the government had spent about GH¢ 5.6 million on the provision of various educational infrastructure in the district.

He commended the President for the Azeem-Namoa School Project, and made a passionate appeal to government to absorb the remaining SHS established by community-members in the district.

He also thanked the chiefs and people of Azeem-Namoo for releasing the 87.61-acre land for the construction of the school’s permanent campus.

Hitherto, the Azeem-Namoa Senior High Technical Institute was set up and managed by the chiefs and people of the community.

The Head of Planning Unit at the Ghana Education Service Headquarters, Mr. Adu Larbi , who spoke on behalf of the Education Minister, said the project was in fulfillment of the President’s promise to build 200 community SHS across the country, and that it was a clear manifestation of the actualization of the President’s promise .

Mr. Larbi advised the community members to give the school authorities the needed support in order to encourage them to work hard.

He entreated the contractor to engage local artisans for the execution of the project.
