Jordan Ayew Makes Aston Villa Debut

The former Lorient striker has played his first game with Villa which ended in a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew marked his debut for Aston Villa in a preseason 2-2 draw with Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old, who joined Villa this week from French club Lorient, came on as a second half substitute for Czech Republic international Libor Kozak, who scored his side’s two goals.

Villa took an early lead when Kozak latched on to Alan Hutton's pass after a Gabriel Agbonlahor dummy and fired past goalkeeper Carl Ikeme after six minutes. However, David Edwards levelled the score for Wolves on 72nd minute.

Kozak restored Villa's lead on 77th minute after sliding to connect a miscued shot from Callum Robinson and was later replaced by Jordan Ayew, who could not find back of the net during his baptism of fire at his new club.

Dominic Iorfa made sure Wolves do not end up in a defeat, finishing off a Conor Coady's pass on 89th minute.

Ayew is expected to play a role in Villa's final preseason friendly match with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He could make his Premier League debut on August 8 when Aston Villa play host to Bournemouth at the Villa Park in the opening day fixtures.

Ayew scored 12 goals last season for Lorient and provided five assists to help the team escape relegation.
