Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr says justice was not served to self-confessed Mahama assassin.

His reason, he said stems from the ‘speed of light’ with which the accused was convicted without giving any legal representation. The laid down processes during trials, he said was also not followed.

“What sort of justice is that? Charles Antwi didn’t even have a legal representative…?” he quizzed.

The Insight editor speaking on Adom FM on Thursday said he believes it was necessary for the judge to have ordered that Charles Antwi be given psychiatric treatment as his claims in court were not sound.

“His comments in court alone are sufficient to tell the judge he is mentally not stable so he should have been referred to a psychiatric for examination by the court which was not done…,” he said.

The 36-year-old was convicted following claims that he stormed the Ringway Assemblies of God Church where the first family fellowships with a gun to assassinate the President.

Justice Francis Obiri sentenced Charles to 10 years imprisonment despite his plea of not guilty.

Kwesi Pratt believes the court has not done a great deal of good to the convicted man and the general public since they could have delve deep into the case by investigating him further ‘because there are so many things we don’t know’.

He expressed his disagreement with Lawyer David Annan’s assertion that appeal of this case will not serve the interest of Charles Antwi stating that any appeal could see Charles walking as a free man.

Kwesi Pratt advised the security to be vigilant in discharging their duties.

 “Wherever the President goes should be a security concern. What if he executed his plans, what would have happened?, he asked.

“What baffles me also is that the gun is a locally manufactured gun which is illegal in this country but still people have access to them… it simply means our security is not on top of issues he added.
