Govt Unhappy Ghana Ranked 7th Dirtiest Country

The Local Government Ministry is unhappy with the joint World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) sanitation report which ranked Ghana as the world’s 7th dirtiest country.

Ghana was ranked after South Sudan, Niger, Chad, Madagascar and Togo, and the Government of Ghana has been under intense criticisms after the release of the report.

At a press conference in the Central Region ahead of the National Sanitation Day which falls on Saturday, Local Government Minister, Collins Dauda expressed his worry over the tag.

“We were all worried when there was a report issue that Ghana is the seventh dirtiest country in the world and from the day the report was issued, many radio stations have called us to comment on it and many of you have expressed disgust about this situation,” he said.

He further stated that the said report has given Ghana a bad name.

“It is clear that nobody is happy about this report,” he continued.

He appealed to the media to help educate the public and create awareness on sanitation.

“Let us help to educate our people on the need to imbibe sanitation practices from today, tomorrow and any day in anybody’s life.”
