Purported 'Wontumi Tape' On Ibrahim Mahama Vindicated?
It seems clearer and much convincing now to us all that the alleged or purported 'Wontumi tape' on the president channelling much of the state resources to the advantage of his younger brother's company- Engineers and Planners was not just a mere speculation.
It came to as a surprise after realizing that Engineers and Planners is using state trucks and equipment due the MMDAS to undertake its intended infrastructural upgrades in the various districts.
There have been a wider deficit in terms of infrastructural development in our various MMDAS and we expected these trucks and equipment to be at the various districts to make feeder roads and upgrade most of these infrastructures to enhance the livelihood of all persons living there. The opposite has been done in the case of Ibrahim Mahama.
The state’s decision to allow him use the equipment is not fair and it would not augur well with us all as a country. It must not stop!! Power is won to enhance the livelihood all and not to enhance that of a selected group, private firm or individual.
We least expected this development, considering how Mr. Ibrahim Mahama vehemently denied the purported 'Wontumi tape' alleging that his brother who happens to be the president of Ghana, funds or supports his company in a way.
For him to pressed charges against the Ashanti Regional Chairman in court saddens us in a way. We wonder if such moves are possible means of covering or stopping people from trying to say things which might seem true. We can't continue to live in a society where there isn't equal opportunity.
This is a clear case of conflicts of interest on the part of the president and we can only say it is a shameful act.
In that regard, we wish to make a reasonable recommendation below:
1. a. The Engineers and Planners should return all the state equipment so they would be used as due them in the various MMDAS
b. We ask Engineers and planners to calculate all charges due them to be paid to the nation for the usage of all the state trucks and equipment.
c. We also demand an apology from Ibrahim Mahama. Our reason is that from what he has done, it appears he has vindicated all that was said on the purported ‘Wontumi tape'.
d. We also wish to urge president to as a matter of need put the country's interest first in all things.
e. We also ask the president to provide equal opportunities to all individuals, firms, agencies or organizations, so we can collectively develop as a country.
To conclude, if the Engineers and planners do not act on our recommendations we would advice ourselves accordingly.
