Accountant In Court For Stealing

An Accra Circuit court, yesterday remanded a former Accounts and Finance Manager of Ghana International School (GIS) into police custody for stealing an amount of US$300,522.34 and GB�3,640.94 belonging to his former Employer. The accused person, Frank Asirifi Bempong is to re-appear before the court on August 20 2009, as investigations still continues. Presenting the facts of the case before the court, presided over by Mrs. Ivy Heward-Mills, a State Attorney from the Attorney General�s Department, Mrs. Rebecca Adjalo indicated that the accused person between the periods of 1996 to 2000 misappropriated the said amount and bolted to the United States of America (U.S.A.). According to the state attorney, an arrest warrant was obtained from court on November 23 2000, for his arrest but information gathered by the police indicated that the suspect had traveled to Washington. Mrs. Adjalo then noted that Interpol Washington as alerted and the suspect was arrested and brought back to Ghana on August 2nd 2009.
