Work To Restart On Stalled Getfund Projects

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Peter Anarfi-Mensah, has given firm assurance that work would re-start on all stalled Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) school projects in the Region, from September.

There are a total of 77 such projects in Senior High Schools (SHS) and tertiary institutions across the Region, adding that, these would be completed to improve the education infrastructure for effective teaching and learning.

The Minister also announced the supply of 25,000 mattresses and bunk beds to give some relief to students from poor homes.

He was speaking during a send-off ceremony held in his honour by the Tepa SHS, where he was the headmaster until his appointment to his new post.

The school’s management presented him with a Toyota Highlander vehicle and a citation for the good job and dedicated service during his four-year watch.

Mr. Anarfi-Mensah said education was a major priority on the government’s development agenda, and that, it would go to all lengths to ensure that the right conditions were created for effective academic work.

It would continue to put in more investment in the sector to raise the standard of education, he added.

He spoke of plans to distribute more than 5,000 chairs and tables to some basic and SHS in deprived areas.
