The incumbent Member has on several occasions been dragged to court by Vicky Bright, forcing the parliamentary seat to be declared vacant but he won in all the cases.

The latest case brought against Ahmed Arthur was thrown out on Thursday, paving the way for elections to be held today [Sunday].

Interestingly, 4 years ago, Ahmed Arthur beat Vicky Bright by 12 votes to win the NPP nomination and subsequently the seat in 2012.

Addison boycott primaries

In a related development, an aspirant at the Klottey Korle constituency, Philip Addison has boycotted primaries in the area.

Lawyer Addison has been angered by an order from the party headquarters which okayed the elections for today [Sunday], even though according to him, there had been a meeting on Friday which scheduled the elections for a later date.

Mr Addison and his supporters were at the NPP headquarters to protest today as the election process begun in the constituency.
