Nii Noi Nortey Replies Philip Addison

Newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle Constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey has chided the camp of lawyer Phillip Addison for describing the NPP priamry at Klottey Korle as a “sham" and "shameful”.

According to Nii Noi Nortey, the claim by Philip Addison that the NPP Klottey Korle primary was rescheduled from August 8, 2015 is strange to him as he was not involved in any such meeting to decide on the date for the election.

Lawyer Philip Addison speaking on NEAT FM’s "Ghana Montie" Morning Show alleged that some national executives of the party, namely; the national chairman, Paul Akofo and general secretary, Kwabena Agyapong “had already arranged for the winner of the election before the election day which was not even set”.

“It was a one sided election. It’s very shameful. The election was to come off on August 8, 2015,” he added.

But on a different platform on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle insisted there was no meeting he could recall took place to fix the election for August 8, 2015.

“There was no meeting I was involved to take a decision to hold the election on August 8, 2015, I am not aware of any meeting of that kind,” he stated.

He narrated that he rather disagreed the suggestion by Philip Addison on the day of the election to change the date of the primary from August 2 to August 8, 2015 as all logistics; the EC officials, the delegates and the security were ready for the election.

He reminded that the decision to hold elections in the NPP is non-negotiable as it beholds the national executives to fix the date for any election in the party.

“If national executives set date for elections, we have to follow it and besides, when we picked the form for the election the date for the election was on the form as June 13, 2015. So from June 13 to August 2, you can’t say you are not prepared for the election…the youth are suffering and we have to put our differences aside to make Nana Addo and NPP win the next election,” he opined.

To him, the candidate who should have been given ample time to campaign was him as he was sent to the party’s regional and national office and finally in court over his certificate.

He added that he has forgiven anybody who has wronged him as he also expects the same from them.
