Two persons have been arrested by the Dodowa police following the shooting of a 22-year-old man at Louom. The suspects were arrested with two AK47 rifles, 52 rounds of ammunition and 32 rounds of pistol cartridges. The two men, identified as Daniel Tettey, 22, a pupil teacher, and Benjamin Tettey, 27, a field worker, were arrested after the police found the weapons in their room. The victim (name withheld) was shot at by unknown assassins without provocation at Louom near Dodowa and is currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital. Shooting Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Dodowa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, said the rifles were special weapons which were not meant for civilians. He said on July 30, 2015 the police received distress calls that there was a shooting incident at Louom and a man had been injured. The police, he said, visited the crime scene and as part of investigations, immediately embarked on a search operation aimed at identifying the perpetrators of the crime and a possible seizure of the weapon used. �During the search operation a number of houses were combed and in one of the houses we found two AK47 assault rifles hidden under a bed with 52 live cartridges and 32 rounds of pistol ammunition,� he said. The occupant of the room, Daniel Tettey, was apprehended and he claimed the weapons were for Benjamin Tettey. Mr Ofori said the two were assisting the police with investigations for possessing weapons without authority. In recent times, he said, the police had been fighting armed robbers, land guards and other suspected criminals in the Doryimu, Kodiabe, Afienya, Appolonia and their environs and were surprised by the recent development. The Dodowa magistrate court, he said, recently ordered a number of seized guns from land guards in the area to be burnt.
