Hold Mahama Responsible For Any Death At Hospitals Atik

Any lives lost you are answerable Mr. President. This is the view of aspiring General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC). According to Atik Muhammad, President John Mahama has not shown enough commitment to the plight of Ghanaians by telling the striking doctors he will not go beyond the budget allocation in dealing with their demand for a condition of service. President Dramani Mahama addressing the Ghana Midwives Association at the launch of their 80th anniversary in Accra stated that he will not authorize any expenditure or wages not provided for in the budget for both workers and Article 71 office holders. But speaking on Accra based Peace FM Thursday; the policy analyst stated that the comment by the president is most unfortunate. He said he has proven that he is not interested in negotiating with the doctors to reach amicable solution to this problem. Atik alleged that, the posture of the President shows he is behind the communicators who rained insults on the striking doctors. He said instead of negotiating with the doctors, the government has rather leaked their demands to the public to whip up public sentiments against the doctors. They intentionally leaked the demands of the doctors so that the public will sympathize with the government. They just wanted Ghanaians to believe that doctors who have sworn to protect lives now dont care about their lives, he stressed. Doctors working in public health facilities declared a strike action after negotiations with government on their condition of service hit a deadlock. The doctors have however threatened to withdraw their services on in-patients and emergency cases after their suspension of services on the Out-Patient Departments (OPDs) seems not to tickle the government.
