Appiah Confirms Availability For Zambia Clash

Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, has confirmed he will be in London on Monday to join his colleagues for the Zambia game. The influential midfielder missed June's World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Sudan because of personal problems. Having fully solved his problems, the midfielder has confirmed on his official website www.stepapp.com that he will be in London for the World Cup warm up. The Ghana Football Association confirmed that Zambia will be Ghana's opponents in a friendly leading up to the qualifying for the World Cup. Ghana will play Zambia at the Matchroom Stadium (also called Brisbane Road), the grounds of English League One side, Leyton Orient on 12 August. Whether Appiah will play or not will depend on the coaching team and the selection boss, Milovan Rajevac. Appiah has always said despite the fact that he is captain, he expects to be treated like any other player and will fight for his place whenever he is called up. Rajevac will use the game as part of the Black Stars' preparations for the African qualifying for the 2010 World Cup which resumes in September. The Black Stars, sitting top of Group D, five points clear in the qualifiers play against Sudan at home. Zambia, now managed by former Ghana physical trainer, Renard Herve will also use the game to prepare for their impending World Cup qualifier. The Chipolopolo's are still challenging for a place in South Africa as they remain third in their group after having missed out of all previous attempts to the World Cup. NOTE: For those keen on attending the game in London, the Central Line on the London Underground trains goes direclty to Leyton where the match will be played. Kick off time 7:30 pm.
