Why The Strike? We Plead With Striking Doctors To Resume Work - John Jinapor

Deputy Minister of Power, John Abdulai Jinapor has waded into discussions regarding the strike action by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", John Jinapor called on the striking medical doctors to be considerate with President John Dramani Mahama and the government.

According to him, the President's refusal to concede to their demands is in the interest of the doctors and the nation at large.

He called on the doctors to wait upon the government as it factors their conditions of service in the 2016 fiscal budget.

To him, there will be a huge burden on the government should it be compelled to meet the needs of all public service workers in the country.

He therefore supported calls on the doctors to remain on the negotiation table with the paymaster and resume work.

“Why the strike?...We’re saying we want to hold talks with you…And I know that Hon. Ato Forson, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and Hon. Alex Segbefia; three key members are negotiating with the doctors. But should everybody come with his demands, Chairman; just be honest. In your own house, if you were to do everything that your children and family want; can you hold your house? You cannot!

“We plead with them to resume work and give them what they duly deserve.”

He further called on the leadership of the Ghana Medical Association to be discreet when making remarks about the government.
