<<Print>>President John Dramani Mahama was in church on Sunday August 9, 2015 two weeks after an assassination attempt on his life. According to reports, there was tight security at the Ringway Assemblies of God church where President Mahama and his family worship.
This follows an assurance by Interior Minister Mark Woyongo that security will be beefed at the church after 36-year-old man; Charles Antwi who was in possession of a gun was arrest for attended to shot the president. He was later arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison. There was huge security presence to ensure the first family’s protection.
In spite of this, he said church service moved on smoothly and members were seen moving around without any restrictions. Meanwhile, family of Charles with the help of human rights lawyer, Francis Sosu are set to appeal the sentence. He said there is the need for a psychiatric evaluation of his client.
