ECG Power Supply To Ashanti Region Has Improved

Power supply to Kumasi and other areas of the Ashanti region has tremendously improved, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced.

According to the ECG, the Ashanti region now receives between 200 and 300 megawatts of power daily. A group calling itself ‘Senior Citizens of Ashanti’ recently staged a demonstration over the poor supply of power in the region.

They claimed the development was collapsing their businesses.

But Isaac Bediako Justice, Public Relations officer of the ECG in the Ashanti region Erasmus Kyere Baidoo said residents of the region can now heave a sigh of relief as electricity supply has greatly been scaled up.

“There is an improvement and it’s all because we are getting gas from Atuabo and this is good news and we hope it continues.

“Everyone will attest to the fact that the situation has greatly improved. We are still working on getting the situation to normalcy but in the meantime, we are doing everything possible to ease the inconveniences on people as a result of the power situation” he explained.
