Okudzeto Denies Allegations

The Deputy Minister for Information, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa has dismissed allegations that the NDC government has frozen employment of the next three years. According to him, government has just slowed down employment because it wants to do away with ghost names on the public sector employment list and payroll to create more room for employment. Disclosing this on Peace FMs Kokrokoo morning show, the minister revealed that recruitment is ongoing across the country especially in the public sectors, citing the Ministry of Chieftaincy, Attorney-Generals office and Ghana Statistical Service as examples. Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa was reacting to the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) demonstration on August 4, 2009 against the government for allegedly freezing employment in the public sectors and adopting no plans to create employment. Contrary to what the demonstration alleged, the deputy minister explained that government had introduced an effective innovation, aimed at creating a lot of employment all over the country.
