Viasat1, Osofagus Kingdom Win Big At Television Awards

It was all glitz and glamour at the second edition of the Television Industry Awards hosted at the Best Western Premiere Hotel last Saturday. The event which saw some industry players rewarded for their hardwork was preceded by dinner before patrons were urshered into the auditorium for the awards. The event was hosted by television hostess, Wendy Tay and the eloquent Johnnie Hughes. A minute of silence was observed for Mr Wallace Bampoe Addo, producer of Ultimate Paradise who passed on and was one of the recipients for the honourary awards received on his behalf by Ebenezer Ampaabeng of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation(GBC). Other honourary recipients were Miss Roberta Gardiner and Mr Mike Amon Kwafo both of GBC. The audience was then treated to a poetry performance by Kcee Moore with his funny tag line, ebi Ghana we dey, much to the delight of everyone. Augustine Dennis, a budding comedian was definitely one of the best performers on the night who had everyone cracking up for close to 15 minutes and received a standing ovation for his brilliant performance. It was back to serious business when the results were presented and a sudden silence was observed in anticipation of who would win what. Big winners on the night were Osofagus Kingdom (Metro TV) who walked away with Outstanding Achievement in Television Directing/ Directing and Outstanding Television Casting � Drama Series. Viasat 1 also proved they were a force to reckon with on the night when they won Outstanding Television Art Direction for The One Show, Outstanding Television Casting � Comedy Series for Office Palava and Outstanding Television Sound Recording for Boys Boys. The competitive Outstanding Television Music Score category was won by Egya Pa (TV Africa ) and Kwame Boadi�s Sunshine Avenue (TV3) walked away with Outstanding Television Camera Work. 4syte TV Show (4syte TV) took home the Outstanding Television Video Editing Award and 30 Minitz (Solid Multimedia) also won Outstanding Television Special And Visual Effects. Outstanding Television Set Design went to 4 Kids Paradise (Emmanuel Afram- 4kids Paradise), Outstanding Teleplay-TV Comedy went to Office Palava and Life of Agorde (Atv) won Outstanding Television Documentary. The main Television Awards night will come off on Saturday, August 14, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
