A footsoldier of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken his party leadership to the cleaners over vitriolic attacks on striking doctors by some its members. According to Osei Yaw Nketia, popularly known as Dr. Asemfoforo, only a mad person will insult striking doctors demanding what is due them.

In his view, the NDC claiming to be a social democratic party should be begging the doctors to return to work instead of hurling insults at them. “People are dying in hospitals and all you can do is insult the doctors; anyone who insult them again is mad,” he said on Accra-based Oman FM Wednesday.

Dr. Asemfoforo who was an ardent critic of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) government could not fathom why the NDC is making the same mistakes of the erstwhile Kufuor administration. “Doctors are very important people so we can’t joke with them. They are the ones who will save lives of the people who will vote for us in 2016 so the government must wise up,” he added.

The serial caller described as unfortunate President Mahama's recent comment that he won't spend outside the budget and called on him to render an unqualified apology to the members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA). Dr. Asemfoforo feared the NDC risk losing the 2016 general election if the incessant agitations on the labour front is not addressed. “The countless demonstration and strikes is an indication of defeat in 2016 so President Mahama must act fast,” he stressed.
