National Women�s Hockey Team To Tour UK

The Women�s National Hockey Team will on Friday, leave Ghana for the United Kingdom to embark on a training tour ahead of some international competitions. The tour, fixed for August 14-29, is part of the Hockey TAP West Africa Program - a four year development partnership program between England Hockey and Ghana Hockey as part of England Hockey�s 2018 Women�s World Cup campaign, which was launched last year A statement from the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA), said the project is also aimed at raising the level of women�s hockey in Ghana and also champion the development of the sport in West Africa. According to the statement, the tour would also serve as a preparatory ground for the team towards the Africa Olympic Qualifier which would be staged in Johannesburg, South Africa from 24th to 30th October 2015. The statement said, 20 players out of the 23, in camp will the selected for the tour. The named players are ; Goalkeepers; Bridget Azumah, Abigail Boye, Gertrude Karley Amui, defence - Emelia Fosuaa, Gertrude Inkoom, Linda Sasu, Nafisatu Umaru, Queensilla Shaibu, Bennedicta Adjei, midfield; Serwaa Boakye, Cecilia Amoako, Enerstina Coffie, Joanita Korwu, Susanna Danquah, Georgina Sam, Racheal Bamfo, Martha Sarfoa, Elizabeth Opoku, Lydia Afriyie, Faustina Aggrey, Linda Barnie, Theresa Mills and Priscilla Forkuo. It said the technical team will be led by Emmanuel Ahadjie, with Richmond Attipoe as the assistant. The rest are; Team Manager - Rosemary Lamptey, goalkeeper's trainer - Bright Dzokoto and technical director - Dennis Amoa-Ababio.
