Police Urged To Drop Charges Against YFM's Princess Ada

Dr. Yao Nfodjoh, a criminal psychologist who examined troubled YFM radio presenter, Princess Ada has diagnosed her with bipolar disorder, and urged police drop criminal charges against her .

Princess Ada caused a national outrage when photos of her alleged rape went viral. It was later revealed by the police that she had staged the act. According to the police, she had been arrested on a number of occasions for similar acts in Takoradi. After spending weeks at the Police hospital, she was referred to a clinical psychologist.

According to Dr. Nfodjoh, Ada may have acted the way she did based on her mental condition. Bipolar disorder is a mental condition characterized by changing periods in depression and elation. She revealed at a press conference which was also attended by Princess Ada herself, that the former YFM host in the past has been suicidal and depressed.

“There was a preponderance of a mood problem with Ada.” Dr. Nfodjoh said.

Dr. Yao Nfodjoh said Princess Ada has responded well to treatment and is “well and fit” to be taken back into active engagement by her employers, and exalted Global Media Alliance for going out of their way to rehabilitate and reintegrate Ms, Ada into society

It is unclear if the police will continue with the criminal investigations against Ada after this report, but Dr. Nfodjoh said in a report to the Attorney general “we recommended that the police discontinue whatever criminal charges” against her.
