The Duchess of Cambridge has been named the world's third most stylish royal in a new poll, with only Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, 43, and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, 44, deemed more fashionable.

But while Kate, 33, and fourth-placed Queen Letizia of Spain, 42, are household names, many of the others to make the list are more obscure, among them Denmark's Australian-born Crown Princess. One who will be familiar to most is Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 50, who took fifth spot - less than a week after she made it onto Vanity Fair's annual best-dressed list.
