Manhyia North Parliamentary aspirant, Nana Boakye, has blamed President John Dramani Mahama and government for adding salt to the injury of striking doctors in the country.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Nana Boakye bemoaned what he believes are unsavory remarks by President John Mahama regarding the strike action by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

According to him, the President "swore to protect lives and properties" and so, should be mindful of his utterances.

Nana Boakye noted that he would continue to blame the President for any life lost in the doctors' strike.

"...He should revise his posture. It’s not too late…He should revise his posture that it’s illegal and senseless. It won’t help because he is the President and the buck stops with him," he advised the President.

Also addressing the issue on Kokrokoo, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper shared a different opinion about the President's conduct on the doctors' strike.

To Kwesi Pratt, the President's speech should not warrant the action by the Ghana Medical Association since they deal with human lives.

Let’s admit that the government didn’t execute its duties well. Let’s admit that the President didn’t speak well. Let’s admit that the doctors gave notice about 20 years ago. So, must people die?” he questioned.

To him, though the doctors' demands for conditions of service "may be important but at this moment, where we have reached; the most important thing is to save lives.
