Mr.Emmanuel Botchway CEO of Madtime Entertainment known in showbiz as Kwaw Kese has taken his effort to improve on the conditions of prisons in the country to another level.

The Rapper and his Kwaw Kese Foundation team have started a long term extensive project planned for all ten regions in Ghana, to create awareness, to give prisons all over the country a face lift and also give inmate opportunities to do something meaningful with their lives behind bars.

The Kwaw Kses Foundation on Tuesday August 18 2015 pre-launched a 20 years Development Project for Ghana’s prisons at the Ghana Prisons Service head office in Accra. The Kwaw Kese foundation hopes to raise funds to help as many prisons as possible. Subsidized meals, and the general makeup of what are prisons homes in bad state, will be key to its mission.

The Management of the Foundation has also commenced a painting project of all prison cells across the country. At the pre-launch event Kwaw and his team presented an elaborate 20 years development project proposal to officials of Ghana Prisons Service for assessment and approval. Kese, who spent over 30 days in the Kumasi prison last year for a narcotic related offense, is hoping to give most of Ghana’s prisons the needed infrastructural injection.

“I am sure most of you have heard about a documentary titled ‘locked and forgotten’ which exposed the true state of our prisons in Ghana. Experience they say is the best teacher, it will interest all of you gathered here to know that I learnt it the hard way. It is from experience that I stand before you today and assure you that the situation is more devastating than it can ever be told in a documentary.

My personal experiences from prison has really touched and moved me to contribute my little quota to help our brothers and sisters who have been incarcerated to provide some form of training and skill for prison inmates before leaving the walls of the prison to enable them to be reintegrated back into the society after serving their terms.

Through a 20 year development plan which I plan to roll out very soon, I have set up the The Kwaw Kesse Foundation to respond to substance abuse and congestion in our prisons across the country. This will be formally launched at a chosen date which will be communicated to all stakeholders’ in the coming months", Kwaw told the media on Tuesday.  

The Director of Prisons, Stephen Coffie, who received the proposal on behalf of Ghana Prison Service commended Kwaw Kese and his management team for the effort at working towards a better prison system in Ghana and promised to study the proposal as soon as possible.  

The Project will tour all the ten regions of Ghana to create awareness about the Foundation and invite people to donate 1gh to support the project. About 15 industries will be set up with your kind contributions to empower inmates and help develop their skills, fend for themselves and their dependents and live meaningful lives.

Examples of industries which will be set up include
1. Exercise book printing factory
2. Bead making factory
3. Soap making factory
4. T- Roll factory
5. Chalk making factory
6. Block molding factory
7. Cane weaving factory
8. Uniform sewing and work gear factory but to mention a few.
9. Farms. Donations can be made throughout all banks across the country.

Mode of contribution can be by calling the foundation office line on (0544376586), through mobile money across all networks (Airtel money,MTN moble money,tigo cash etc) or going to any bank and asking for the Kwaw kese foundation account number, you are sure to be sorted out.

Monies collected will be published in the new papers every six months for stakeholders to know how useful their contributions are benefiting those intended to benefit. Monies also generated from the industries will be divided into three, a percentage will be used to subsidize the meals of inmates, another percentage will be used to fund the rehabilitation of some prisons and the last percentage will go to the Kwaw kese foundation.
