Selected TEEP Winners In Ghana Pay Courtesy Call On UBA

10 selected young entrepreneurs in Ghana out of 34 who participated in the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) have paid a courtesy call on United Bank for Africa [UBA] Ghana.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation launched a US$100million pan-African initiative to support entrepreneurs in Africa under a programme dubbed: Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP)

The amount set aside for the multi-year programme is arguably the single biggest private sector initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurs to create 10,000 businesses that employ one million people and generate US$10billion in annual revenues over the next decade.

The initiator of TEEP, Tony O. Elumelu - an accomplished entrepreneur and the owner of UBA bank Group � reason for the program, is born out of the desire to find and support entrepreneurs with projects that can sustain Africa's growing youthful population and create an economic boom in Ghana and other 53 African countries.

Out of thousand entrepreneurs selected from over 20,000 applicants from all over Africa - thirty-four are from Ghana.

As part of efforts to�strengthen and complement the relationship between UBA Ghana and The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP), the entrepreneurs from Ghana led by its President Sheila Osei Boakye paid a courtesy call on the management of UBA Ghana on Tuesday August 18, 2015.

The meeting which was held in the board room of UBA Ghana, afforded the entrepreneurs the opportunity to introduce themselves to UBA Ghana.

Speaking at their brief visit, the Deputy Managing Director of UBA Ghana, Mr Usman Isiaka, lauded the entrepreneurs � after advising them to emulate the excellent business qualities of the initiator of the program - Mr. Tony Elumelu.

According to him, the UBA owner - �is a visionary and an energetic person that dares to dream and follows his dream with action; and sees business opportunities and challenges far ahead of his contemporaries�.

He added that, Mr Elumelu is �highly resilient with an unusual CAN-DO spirit, humble, people oriented; yet firm and disciplined; with a penchant for due process and institutionalization of good corporate governance across his business entities�.

The bank also advised the entrepreneurs to commence their financial and banking relationship with UBA Ghana - with a promise to give them a delightful customer service experience.

The young entrepreneurs were thankful for the warm reception � they also appreciate the Tony Elumelu Foundation for investing in the team to make a change in Ghana.

They also solicited for the bank�s support in their operational activities to help them achieve their goal of contributing to the growth of the private sector in Ghana; and the economy at large.

Account opening packages were given to all the entrepreneurs to commence their financial and banking relationship with UBA Ghana with a promise to give them a delightful customer service experience �a business creed in UBA.

The thirty-four (34) Ghanaian Entrepreneurs are currently participating in the ongoing Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme which seeks to provide seed equity of $10,000.00 to each of the winning 1000 entrepreneurs across Africa.
