Turkish Side Sivasspor Wraps Up Deal For John Boye

The Ghana international has been announced the Yigidos latest acquisition, as he continues his quest for topflight action following demotion of his former side. Ghana defender John Boye has completed a two-year deal to Turkish Super Lig side Sivasspor. The centre-back joined the club late Wednesday from relegated outfit Erciyesspor, with an option of a further one-year extension, and could make his debut on Sunday when Sivasspor travel to play Eskisehirspor in their second league game of the season. Boye joined Erciyesspor in July 2014 from French side Stade Rennes, but the teams slump to the Turkish second tier at the end of last season has seen the defender on the move after 22 league appearances and two goals. The 28-year-olds latest transfer to Sivasspor comes as a surprise as the defender was earlier reported to have agreed personal terms with French club Ajaccio, while other rumours had linked him to a return to Rennes. Boye started his professional career with Ghana Premier League side Heart of Lions, before initially moving to Rennes in 2008 on loan. Unable to reach an agreement for a permanent deal after his short stay, Boye returned to Lions before finally completing a permanent transfer to Rennes in 2009. A member of the Ghana national side, Boye made his debut in June 2008 against Gabon, but it was not until 2012 before he became a regular member of the squad after impressing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He has also gone on to feature for Ghana at the 2013 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments as well as the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
