Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, Second Lady has tasked Christians to take-up responsibilities of ensuring that the unadulterated gospel is preached and the good news of salvation becomes the pivot of all messages. She said obedience to God and the word of God should always be emphasised and spending time in the presence of God to know Him and grow in Him should be instilled in children. Mrs Amissah-Arthur was speaking at the 52nd Annual Session of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) at Ejura in the Ashanti Region. The four-day session is on the theme: �Harvest Time Today: Safe Guarding Authentic Christian Faith and Practice.� It brought together members of the GBC across the country and some foreign branches of the church including United States. The session would review its yearly activities and the ordination of reverend ministers. Mrs Amissah-Arthur said the lives of Christians should be living testimonies of what authentic Christian faith and practice is and impact greatly on Christians. �Let us be salt and light as we live out the authentic Christian faith in our political work business and in our private homes. In whatever we do, let�s do it as unto the Lord.� Mrs Amissah-Arthur said Christians must pursue the truth and live by it and are also required to ensure that everybody in the country lives in peace and pray for those in authority. She said: As we instill Christian discipline in our homes, churches, and communities begin to change The second lady admonished Christians to stop doing church and religion and concentrate on doing spirituality. �The battle over external expressions sometimes consumes us so much that we are derailed from the main focus of Christian faith practices. Faithfulness to Jesus Christ does not produce an easy life and people we most admire have each paid a price for faithfulness,� she said. Mr Peter Anarfi-Mensah, Regional Minister said Christians are in the majority in the country and so they must always come out with suggestions that would ensure and enhance peace. He said Christians should not forget that their role and responsibilities are to fight bad social practices in the society through preaching the gospel. Mr Anarfi-Mensah said next month would witness the voting of members of the district assemblies whilst 2016 is a crucial year as the nation goes into a general election. He asked members of the convention and other religious leaders to pray for peace, unity and development for the nation. The Executive President of the GBC, Reverend Ernest Adu-Gyamfi said the convention had made many progress for the past years and one of the achievement is the bringing back of some break away pastors.
