Bissah Fails To Qualify For AAG

The 2014 Youth Olympics gold medalist, Martha Bissah, has failed to meet the qualifying standards for the All Africa Games (AAG), scheduled for Congo next month. Bissah who was required to run a time of 2.4 in the 800m event of the Ghana Athletic Associations� (GAA), final Circuit held at the EL-Wak Stadium on Friday, failed to meet the standards. The 17-year-old Bissah though came first in the race with four others, finished with a time of 2:11 to end her dreams of joining Ghana�s contingent for Africa�s biggest sporting gathering. Bissah, last year emerged the only Ghanaian to win an Olympic gold medal following her personal best and a new national record of 2:04 at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China in the 800m final. Her form has dipped in recent months following her off the tracks attitude and choices that has seen her changed trainers and picked a manager despite being a minor. Meanwhile, Mary Zuta has qualified for the Games haven thrown 50.65 in the javelin women final to book her place.
