<<Print>>ASHANTI REGIONAL National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vehemently debunked NPP’s claim that the First Lady Lordina Mahama has recently presided over an NDC meeting in Kumasi where a diabolic plot was hatched by the NDC to attack head porters in Kumasi also known as ‘Kayayie’ to create disaffection for the NPP.
“The accusation by the opposition NPP is baseless, full of falsehood and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” Raymong Tandoh, the Ashanti Regional NDC Secretary, who sounded angry stated in an interview with Daily Guide on Monday.
Daily Guide in its Monday, August 24, 2015 edition published a story with the caption ‘Wontumi Foils NDC Kayayie Agenda.’
In the story, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, slammed the first lady for presiding over an NDC meeting at the RCC in Kumasi recently, where the party devised a plan to attack head porters in Kumasi as part of their campaign strategies for 2016.
The NPP guru went on to say that the NDC also agreed at the secret meeting that some of their (NDC) members would dress in NPP colours and attack the head porters so that the head porters would develop a strong hatred towards the NPP, especially, when the 2016 polls is just around the corner.
Wontumi who was speaking on Hello FM in Kumasi, also alleged that his deep throat source in the NDC who was present at the party meeting, divulged the sensitive information to him.
Reacting to the story, Raymond Tandoh insisted that a meeting of that sort was not held by the NDC in Kumasi as Wontumi has alleged, stating that the report by the NPP chairman is a hoax.
Even though he admitted that the first lady visited Kumasi last weekend, he was however quick to point out that Lordina Mahama was in the region for an official assignment at Asante Mampong and nothing else.
The NDC scribe stated that Lordina Mahama is a decent and well-respect-personality who would never stoop low to indulge in diabolic politics, sternly cautioning Wontumi to stay away from the first lady to enable her contribute her quota to the nation’s development.
Contrary to the NPP chairman’s story, Raymond Tandoh stated that the NDC has no evil agenda against head porters in Kumasi or anywhere in the country, stressing that it is an open secret that the NPP has no plan to better the lives of the head porters.
According to him, the NDC had remained faithful to the head porters over the years, the reason why the head porters always vote massively for the party during national elections.
The NDC top scribe said the NPP and Wontumi, in particular, is jealous of the huge votes that the NDC attracts from the head porters during elections “so they want to come out with false stories to create trouble between the NDC and the head porters,” noting that the NPP’s evil agenda would not work.
He said the head porters are discerning and therefore would not fall for the NPP’s propaganda machinery which is being spearheaded by Wontumi, stressing that the head porters would continue to vote massively for the NDC during the 2016 polls.
