Issa Hayatou Hail Nyantakyi

CAF President Issa Hayatou, a former General Secretary of FIFA, Jorome Champagne and other leading football figures have congratulated the president of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi on his re-election, expressing the confidence that his (Nyantakyi’s) experience will help move the sport forward.

In another congratulatory message on behalf of the CAF Executive Committee, Hayatou hailed Nyantakyi's positive attributes in the administration of the game, adding that these attributes would help move Ghana football forward as he begins his new mandate.

"We are convinced that your knowledge, experience and leadership will allow your federation and its Executive Committee to move forward and take Ghanaian football to further heights of professionalism and performance," the African football chief said.

Champagne, in extolling the virtues of the Fa president, said he believed Ghana football would be better off under the direction of Nyantakyi, considering the numerous successes he had chalked under his leadership in the past few years.

"With such a brilliant record, including three World Cup appearances in a row, six AFCON appearances in a row and a World Cup at the U-20 level, there is the hope that you will improve Ghana football," Champagne stated.

Meanwhile, some heads of African football federations, including Mohamed Raouraoua and Jean Michel Mbonothe of the Ugandan Football Federation and the Congolese Football Federation respectively, have also sent their compliments to Mr Nyantakyi, who was re-elected for a third term in office last week at an Extraordinary GFA Congress held in Tamale.
