Severe Vomiting Can Kill

A Midwife at the La General Hospital in Accra, Madam Dorothy Ofori Owusu, has said women who are pregnant should seek early medical attention when they encounter any complication during their period of pregnancy, especially if they are experiencing severe vomiting.

According to her, “severe vomiting can kill.” She said this on “Apomuden,” one of the flagship programmes on Amansan Television (ATV) in Accra.

She was educating women on complications in the first trimester.

She explained that trimester is the first three months of pregnancy.

She explained further that during that period, pregnant women usually suffer a lot of complications which situation if not attended to could be disastrous.

Bleeding, spontaneous abortion/miscarriage and vomiting (Hyperemesis gravidarum), she said, are some of the symptoms of complications.

She therefore advised pregnant women to regularly seek medical attention for early treatment when they encounter any of the following symptoms during pregnancy.

She also pleaded with all husbands to support or take proper care of their pregnant wives during that period.
