Weija-Gbawe NPP Not In Support Of Obuobia As NDC MP Aspirant Tina Mensah

NPP’s Member of Parliament elect in the Weija-Gbawe constituency, Tina Mensah, has rubbished claims that the opposition party has united with the NDC to support Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku as MP aspirant for the NDC.

According to her, the elephant fraternity in Weija-Gbawe – “will never make such a childish attempt. In fact how can we do that? That will never happen… never.”

According to The Herald Newspaper on Monday - thousands of supporters and sympathizers of both the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), and opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), poured onto the principal streets of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, last Saturday, to unanimously endorse the candidature of Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku, as their next Member of Parliament (MP).

The paper continued to say - the peaceful health walk, which coincided with Madam Obuobia’s birthday almost turned into a joint political rally by the NPP and NDC supporters to prove their solidarity and loyalty to “OB” as she is affectionately called.

But in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Madam Tina expressed shocked and described the publication as – “total fabrication” and “propaganda”.

She explained that – the NDC’s MP aspirant personally invited her for the health walk as a sign of unity within the NPP and the NDC since there has been tension in the constituency over the years.

According to Tina, it was unfortunate she couldn’t grace Obuobia’s invite – “But I was told by my party executives that Obuobia transported some members which I don’t know their party affiliation and intentionally cooked the story to win sympathy votes.”

Tina Mensah is however, very optimistic that the NPP will win the parliamentary seat in the Weija-Gbawe constituency come 2016.
