Nana Addo Is Not Being Truthful Sam George

Presidential Staffer, Sam George says presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akuffo-Addo is not being entirely truthful to Ghanaians about his party’s intentions concerning the voters' register.

For someone who is seeking to be elected into the highest office in Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo could not be serious when he said the NPP’s call for the compilation of a new voters’ register is not for political gains, he argued..

“You hear Nana Addo say that that entire process is not aimed at political gains, is Nana Addo a pastor or is he a businessman? He is a politician and any and everything he espouses is aimed at maximizing political capital.

“This points to the fact that Nana Addo is not being entirely truthful and truthfulness is a key thing when you seek public office because at the base of everyone who seeks public office is integrity and a great chunk of integrity honesty and so if you seek to hold the highest office or any public office for that matter you must have integrity and you must be an honest person and Nana Addo failed to exhibit both”, he said on Radio Gold’s ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’ programme, Saturday.

At a news conference a fortnight ago, the NPP’s vice-presidential nominee, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia alleged that 76,000 names of Togolese nationals have been found in Ghana’s electoral roll.

This according to Dr Bawumia was found out by an investigative team set by the party to find out why Ghana’s voter population was so large.

The biometric facial recognition used found that the names of some persons on the Togolese voter register were the same found in Ghana’s.

The party, therefore, called for a new voters’ register, insisting that the existing register will not guarantee credible polls next year.

But Sam George says the NPP’s moves are clearly thought out and a reaction to losing the election petition in 2013.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo last year during a visit to the United Kingdom called on members of the party and its supporters to use their connections to get the government there to put pressure on the Mahama administration to change the voters' register.

Sam George claimed Nana Addo pointed that that was the NPP’s only way to win the elections in 2016. “So is Nana Addo now a political ventriloquist speaking from both sides of his mouth”, Sam George queried.

He called on Dr Bawumia to tell Ghanaians the name of the software used for the biometric facial recognition.

In any case, the Togolese voters register is not biometric so why will the NPP compare a non-biometric register with one that is biometric, he questioned.

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt who was also a panelist on the show was also of the view that a new register is needless.
