Contrary to reports that constituency executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Klottey Korle are questioning the commitment of daughter of former President Rawlings, Dr Ezanator Rawlings, information available to The aL-hAJJ proves otherwise.

According to the NDC constituency Chairman of the Klottey Korle constituency, Mohammed Bashiru Nii Na Alema, media reports suggesting that constituency executives are against Dr. Ezenator Rawings’s bid are “untrue”.

Insisting that majority of the constituency executives are in support of the medical trained doctor’s parliamentary bid, the Chairman stated on Neat Fm yesterday that “We [constituency executives] rather believe that she is the only candidate who can win the Klottey Korle seat for the NDC in the 2016 election.”
Starr Fm last week quoted constituency secretary of the Klottey Korle NDC, Richmond Dizzy Quaye, to have denied ever knowing Dr Ezanator Rawlings as active member of the ruling party in the constituency.

“Well, she is not known in the constituency and we the executives are not really aware of her. I can’t say the NDC members in this area know her as an active member,” he said.
However, in a sharp riposte, the constituency insisted that the NDC founder’s daughter is an active member of the NDC in the constituency, saying “Dr. Ezenator has been participating in the constituency. Recently she was among those who helped the Circle fire-flood-disaster victims. She is well known here in Klottey Korle… Very instrumental”.

He added that “Majority of the executives fully support her. She will never lose the primaries, she will win. We have not rejected her…members fully support her”.

Dr. Ezenator Rawlings last week picked forms to contest the Klottey Korle primaries of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). She will face competing from Leeford Kpakpo Quarshie, who has also picked forms to contest, and probably, the incumbent MP, Nii Armah Ashittey, who is yet to pick forms.

The aL-hAJJ independent checks in the Klottey Korle constituency indicate that majority of NDC supporters are rooting for Dr Ezanator and have vowed to hand her landslide victory in the impending primaries to retain the seat for the governing party.

Despite ex-president Rawlings’ harsh criticism of the NDC, particularly under late President Mills, and Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’ unprovoked attacks on the ruling party, NDC supporters in the constituency assert, it was time they reward the party’s founder.

“We are not oblivious of what happened under late President Mills and the damage Nana Konadu is causing this party with her constant diatribes, but whether we like or not they (Rawlingses) planted the seed, watered it and now we are all enjoying the fruit of their labor so it’s time to reward them by voting for Ezanator,” a stanch supporter of the NDC noted in a recent interaction.

“For all these years we in the NDC have been looking for opportunity to crown the effort of our founder, and if this is the way to do that, why not? Not only that, as the case stands now Ezanator is our surest bet for 2016. If we make mistake by overlooking her, the seat will slip through our fingers,” another NDC member asserted.
