Be Bold And Stop Hiding Behind Spokespersons - Abankwa to Afoko

The National Treasurer of the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah, has urged the party’s National Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko to stop issuing needless press statements through his spokespersons.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr Abankwa told Afoko to be bold enough to issue signed statements in his name and not hide behind his so-called spokespersons to tarnish the image of the party.

The party’s treasurer's advice was in reaction to a statement released by the spokesperson for Paul Afoko, Nana Yaw Osei, giving the strongest indication that the party’s leadership will deal with any acts of corruption and other financial malfeasances that come up at all levels of the party.

The statement further said, “this is the only way to ensure that monies belonging to the party and entrusted in the hands of those whose responsibility it is to perform certain functions for and on behalf of the party do not squander such resources.

The National Chairman insisted that any party member who embezzles party money and/or misuses resources belonging to the party for his/her personal interest must be seen as being opposed to the party’s victory in the 2016 general election.

“Such a person, if found out, will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he added.

However, Mr Abankwa said the party has a Steering Committee which is mandated to investigate any acts of malfeasance.
