If You Feel More Powerful Than Akufo-Addo Leave The Party. NPP Elder

“Any office holder who feels he is more powerful than Akufo Addo should leave the party…” demands Mr Apenteng Appiah Menka, one of the elders of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NPP elder was speaking to some internal wrangling in the party and the fact that those issues are always being discussed in the media.

The NPP is yet to put closure on various issues causing tension in the party. The recent one is a disclosure from the party’s General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong that he and the party’s Chairman Paul Afoko, were not informed of various activities of Nana Akufo Addo, flagbearer of the party including his “Arise and Build” Tour.

Nana Addo subsequently, intervened and asked that party issues should not be discussed in the media.

Speaking to these issues in an interview on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’ on PEACE FM, Appiah Menka asked “any office holder who feels he is more powerful than Akufo Addo” to leave the party.

“…we should listen to the elders of the party and know that we don’t wash our dirty linen in public. There are issues in every party but if you respect yourself, you don’t put out your internal issues in the media. Those who think they have the powers should know that there is a limit to their powers. Nana Addo has spoken and so it will be a joke if anyone does not agree with him…it is sad that party matters are being discussed on radio. We should respect the party and then the flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo…” he said.

Appiah Menka also added that “those who really don’t know the history of the party tend to make mistakes…I am happy these issues are happening now and not in 2016. Hopefully by the time we get to 2016 they would have been resolved. Per the constitution, after a flagbearer is elected, the party is under his control whether you are a Chairman or General Secretary”
