Obuasi MCE Accuses His MP's And Other DCE's Of Not Helping

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region has appealed to Members of Parliament in the area to help push for the construction of better roads for residents, especially the Obuasi Junction - Ahwiakwanta road.

Speaking in an interview with host Akwasi Agudey on Shaft FMs "Political Palace" programme, the MCE, Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi accused the Parliamentary representatives for Obuasi East, Obuasi West and Fomena among other DCE's of shirking their official duties to the constituents of Obuasi.

According to him, business activities and vehicular movements have for years been hindered by the poor state of the roads.

He noted that he believes the voices of the MPs would be heeded to by the Road and Highways Minister.

"It must be a collective effort but if the MPs leave the entire work on me, it will be hard because I don't control that sector. And I can't invite the Minister to come and answer to me, but the MPs can invite the Minister to come and answer to them."

Since his appointment in 2013, the MCE, beyond government support, has sought funds from other quarters to provide Obuasi with its first-ever high court, a light industrial area, and a bus terminal, while securing land for the construction of a wood village at Domeabra.
