Kwesi Nyantakyi Hints Kotoko Could Win Appeal

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has given a clear indication that Kotoko could win the appeal following the FAs disciplinary Committee decision to deduct six points from their accumulated points in the First Capital plus Premier League. The Porcupine Warriors were docked points after being found guilty of a charge by rivals Hearts of Oak following the use of unqualified Obed Owusu in match-day 25 of the League. The disciplinary committee after a sitting on Tuesday September 1 ruled in favor of Accra Hearts of Oak hence awarding 3 points to the Phobians, a decision which saw Kotoko drop from 3rd position to the 15th position on the League log. Kotoko after the ruling filed in an appeal to protest against the verdict by the disciplinary committee claiming the culprit Obed Owusu served his suspension in an Elite Cup match against Dunkwa United. Nyantakyi has however hinted Kotoko could win the appeal after indicating that the Elite Cup is an FA sanctioned and organized competition. Elite Cup is sanctioned and organized by GFA and is like carling cup in England, he spoke with Accra-based Happy fm in an interview. Article 39 8(a) of the GFA regulations indicates that All fines applicable to the Premier League shall apply to the FA Cup and the Elite Club Cup for the same offence but shall apply to the Reserve League at 50% for the same offences. With so doing Kotoko believes the player (Obed Owusu) could equally serve his suspension in the Elite Cup competition.
