EDAIF Boss Eyes Bole-Bamboi Seat

The Project Manager of the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF) Sulemana Yusif is among leading contenders garnering for the Bole-Bamboi seat on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

His bid increases in force following a decision by the incumbent not to seek reelection after two terms as legislator of the area having succeeded President John Dramani Mahama in 2009.

Mr. Yusif who contested and lost to the incumbent Alhaji Joseph Akati Saaka in 2012 by an insignificant margin, is optimistic of winning the mandate of the people this time especially with the current expansion in the Electoral College.

It is unclear why the incumbent is not seeking another term. Mr. Sulemana Yusif who is enjoying the support of the youth and party leaders in the constituency said he is in the race to transform the area by bringing more projects to make it appealing than its current state.

The EDAIF boss who met a crushing defeat at his first attempt to represent the people in 2012, said he never become less determined in efforts to ensure victory for the NDC.

He did this by going all out to support the incumbent with motorbikes, party paraphernalia and other logistics which paid off as manifested in the election results.

He revealed to peacefmonline.com, over the years in his personal capacity supported decentralized departments in the Bole district including the provision of air conditioners to the National Health
Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The parliamentary hopeful also mentioned the provision of jerseys to youth groups as a way of promoting sports in the district indicating that most of these donations were done during off political seasons.

He added he will put forth detailed plans to propel education in
the constituency to a higher level to ensure illiteracy which he said, is high in the area, to the barest minimum.

In this regard ,he will increase his contributions in paying fees of a number of tertiary students in the district when elected, Mr. Yussif promised.

According to him, he has much respect for the constituency because it is the home of the president. He said the constituency which actually offered the President the opportunity to his current political success, requires the services of a development oriented person who
can coordinate issues to bring about development.

Describing himself as a lobbyist and a development oriented person he believe he is capable of retaining the seat in honour of the president and the people of the constituency and repeated his commitment to developing the area.
