Abeiku Santana Fails To Pick Nominations Forms

Radio personality, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey aka Abeiku Santana failed to pick forms to contest the Mfantsiman seat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party’s deputy constituency secretary, Kwesi Budu Hagan told Asempa FM Thursday that the vociferous radio presenter failed to pick forms despite making pronouncements on radio about contesting the seat.

“I am talking in my capacity as deputy constituency secretary and I must state that Abeiku Santana as I speak failed to pick nomination forms or submit any to contest the Mfantseman seat…,” he said.

The constituency scribe said further that only three persons including the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Henry Hayford and constituency chairman, James Eshun have picked and submitted forms to contest the November 7th primaries.

Posters announcing plans by the radio presenter to contest the seat in his home region emerged months ago; a development which did not shock many as Abeiku had openly campaigned for President John Dramani Mahama in the 2012 elections,

Despite not being able to state categorically what caused Abeiku Santana to drop his interest in the seat, Kwesi Budu said he was sure the presenter chickened out after research in the constituency showed he was not as popular as he might have imagined.

"I am sure he conducted his own research and found out that the party chairman was solid on ground and hence knew he would lose if he contests…so he decided to withdraw to save his reputation…,” he said.
