Police Nab Suspect In Gruesome Murder Of 70 Year Old Farmer

A 20 year old Fulani who slashed the stomach of a 70 year old farmer, gushing out his intestines has been arrested by the Kumasi Police. Mohammed Abubakar, the suspect, is a herdsman whose kraal was very close to the deceased, Aklika Kpobi at Mantukwa cottage near the banks of the Afram Plains. Kofi Boakye Briefing the media at the Kumasi Central Police Conference room, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr Nathan Kofi Boakye said on August 31, 2015, Mr Kpobi left his house for fishing. He explained that on his way back around 5.30am, Kpobi was confronted by Abubakar and without any provocation slit the stomach of the old man with a sharp knife killing him instantly and left him in a pool of blood and fled. He explained that it was not clear what precipitated the gruesome murder and the police was working round the clock to unravel it. DCOP Boakye said on September 2, 2015 the police acting on a tip off located Abubakar at Ananekrom near Agogo and arrested him. He said the police was investigating and the suspect would soon be arraigned before court. Watch Dog The Regional Police Commander urged the people of Agogo and its surrounding areas facing the problem of Fulani herdsmen destroying their farms, raping their women and killing their animals to form a joint Community Watch Dog Committee. He said forming such a committee with identified and law abiding Fulanis in the area would complement the effort of the police in bringing sanity to the area and through that they would be able to arrest all those recalcitrant Fulanis. He assured the people of the support of the police in dealing ruthlessly with all those behind criminal activities in the area.
