I Want To Be An MP To Learn Governance--DCE

District Chief Executive, Gushegu, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini has revealed an interesting reason his people must entrust him the mandate as the party's candidate for the constituency in the 2016 Parliamentary Elections. According to him, he would used the opportunity to broaden his horizon and extend his knowledge on governance having being the DCE for area for two consecutive terms. "I want to become an MP to have a wider knowledge about governance" he said. Adding that, "I have realised that as a DCE there is a district level structure and you are confined to that, even though it is a difficult task because you need to manage the grassroots and after having managing them to date, after my second tenure I still want to be in the party, not necessarily holding a position but from I'm coming from, I think my knowledge will be needed up there so that I can help promulgate laws for the country". Alhaji Fuseini is among the five District Chief Executives in the Northern region who filed nomination forms to join the Nov.7 race. Many believed it is a political strategy to save their jobs but the DCE denied insisting his motives were developmental oriented. "It is not that I'm saving my job. I want to serve the people. As the DCE I have been able to wooed contractors, business men and NGOS to the district and the people feel that if I'm Accra where we have wider coverage of these NGOS, I can be able tapped most of them so that Gushegu will benefit whatever I'm going to bring". Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, Alhaji Fuseini said he has solid and proven record of returning absolute peace and harmony to the district after several years of grinning chieftaincy conflicts and political upheavals. He believed therefore, he would performed well than the incumbent MP when given the mandate on Nov 7. The party ended its first modality as part of preparations towards the forthcoming primaries to elect its Parliamentary candidates to the 2016 Elections. Out of 200 aspirants who picked nomination forms in the region, 120 had successful filed and submitted their forms to battle the 31 constituencies. Lawyer Rauf, the regional secretary has revealed. The Damango and the Wulensi are the two constituencies that had one candidate respectively. The Bimbila and Bunkrugu recorded the highest number of aspirants with 8 each despite security challenge.
