Konkombas And Dagombas Clash Again

Two people are said to have lost their lives, while several others sustained various injuries in Agbogbloshie, a suburb of Accra, when some Konkomba and Dagomba natives clashed this afternoon. An eyewitness, Richard Mensah, who spoke to peacefmonline, revealed that several people were butchered in the incident. Richard reported that the presence of the police has somehow quelled the fighting. Bodies of the two victims have meanwhile been picked up by the police for autopsy. It is unclear what sparked this latest fatal clash, but the two families have been locked in a bitter chieftaincy dispute since 2002. Peace FM reporter, Nana Kwame, who later visited the place, described the incident scene as bloody and horrible. According to him, there were spilled blood everywhere, and electricity supply to the area had also been disrupted. The Greater Accra Regional Police PRO, Inspector Dompreh, who also spoke to Peacefmonline, confirmed the death of the two. He gave the assurance that the Service will take reasonable steps, such as arrests and prosecutions of those involved in this heinous crime, to stop the violence. He added that they will not allow any person or group of persons to import violence into the capital city. Presently, the police who are at Agbogbloshie to ensure peace, have also appealed to local chiefs and opinion leaders in the area to advice their kinsmen and followers to desist from any criminal act.
