Trouble Looms In NDC At Evalue-Gwira

If President Mahama’s one touch victory becomes a reality in the 2016 general elections, he may suffer deficit at the Parliamentary elections as a group called “Concerned NDC Youth of Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency” in the Western region have threatened to vote massively against the incumbent NDC MP, Hon. Kweku Tanikyi Kessie.

According to the youth numbering about 200 across all the 92 branches of the ruling NDC have, any attempt by the NDC vetting committee in connivance with the incumbent Hon. Kweku Tanikyi Kessie to disqualify his contender, Herbert Dickson will force the youth to vote “skirt and blouse” in 2016 general elections.

In a press release, the Concerned NDC youth with a headline “Evalue Gwira Needs A Contest: Disqualify Herbert Dickson and We Will Vote ‘Skirt and Blouse’ in 2016” are alleging that some attempts have been made by the incumbent MP through some old NDC Constituency Executives to use some means to ensure that the MP goes unopposed.

The statement added that the NDC old Constituency Executives are scheming to disqualify Mr. Herbert Kuah Dickson, the main contender who is gaining popularity and support of the Chiefs and the youth within the Constituency.

Peacefmonline.com speaking to the Convener of the group, Bukari Akansisey, he hinted their awareness of the fictitious petition which was “shamefully” written to the NDC Regional Chairman, demanding for Mr. Herbert’s disqualification with “bogus” allegation that he [Herbert Dickson] is not a member of NDC.

He maintained the allegation that Mr. Herbert Kuah Dickson does not come from Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency is full of “mischief and unattainable”.

He revealed that the NDC MP upon being alarmed of the surprise of having a contender wanted to use some means to discourage Mr. Kuah from contesting him as he [the MP] used some prominent Chiefs in the area to use their office to compel Mr. Herbert Dickson to step down for the incumbent to go unopposed.

“He (Hon. Kessie) hardly comes home to visit his constituents and this has caused the wrath of the youth in the constituency. Areas where he can popularize and sell himself such as public gatherings like Kundum Durbars, Independence Day, Farmers Day and even funerals, he refuses to attend while his opponent Mrs. Catherine Afeku has taken advantage to gain more exposure and popularity”, he bemoaned.

“…what is annoying is that he secretly sneaks out of the constituency without anyone noticing his presence. It is painful to note that the MP after assuming office has failed to keep in touch with the electorate neither showing any seriousness that he will be contesting in the 2016 elections”, he fumed.

Concern NDC Youth Of Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency have alleged the NDC MP for the constituency to didn’t vote during the just ended district level Assembly elections and that he didn’t have his vote in the constituency before contesting in 2012; thus, he doesn’t support the NDC activities to achieve the better Ghana Agenda in the constituency.

They again alleged that NDC MP does not work with the current constituency executives, describing the executives as “own goal players”; wondering why the MP is using the Chiefs and other top personalities to frustrate the young man from contesting if he believes he has worked hard and won the heart of the chiefs and the people.

The group’s convener, Bukari Akansisey alerted that the NDC MP with his communist attitude has brought marginal division within the rank and file of the party in the constituency.

He averred it will be impossible to continue to vote an MP whose legacy is to remove the Municipal Chief Executive who is working hard to make the NDC a formidable in the area; asserting he has paid some groups to always to fabricate negative stories to tarnish the image of the MCE and the party.

“The NDC MP has negatively influenced the old executives not to dine and wine with the current executives. He does not attend party meetings in the constituency and caucus meetings at the region. We know all these and for the records, Mr. Dickson is a Ghanaian who typically hails from Gwira Sikaneasem; he has been with the party since 2004 and was a member of Takoradi Polytechnic branch of TEIN”, he highlighted.

He therefore threatened that “we the concerned youth of the NDC in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency wishes to state categorically that Mr. Herbert Kuah Dickson should be made to contest in the November 7 primaries or we will resort to the ‘skirt and blouse’ system in the 2016 election, since Hon. Kessie has woefully lost touch with the people especially we at the grassroots level”.

An appeal however has been made to the regional executives to desist from using any form of mafia tactics to disqualify Mr. Dickson with the flimsy allegation that he doesn’t vote in the constituency; thereby to make Hon. Kessie to go unopposed.
