John Abanga Was Murdered� Police Commander

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Maxwell Atingane, has ruled out a robbery attack on the late John Abanga, a reporter with the Success FM at Goaso, who was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen. He rather suspected murder and that the police had launched a full scale investigation into the matter to bring the perpetrators to book. He disclosed that a search on the late reporter resulted in the discovery of three mobile phones and GH�200 in his wallet, noting that if it was a robbery attack as was being alleged, those items would have been taken away. He said no arrests had been made so far but assured that the police were working hard to bring the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, the Editor of the fm Station, Atiewin Mohammed, has alleged that the late reporter was murdered by persons who thought he was making them unpopular in the area. Speaking in a telephone interview, he said he did not believe the police accounts which had it that the deceased journalist was attacked and killed by armed robbers who had laid siege at the scene waiting to rob a cocoa farmer who had gone to the bank to cash huge sums of money.
