A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Gabby Otchere-Darko was severely whipped on the back by the police.
Some other members of Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) and Movement for Change (MFC) who participated in Wednesday's planned picketing at the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC) calling for a new voters register, were also whipped into line whiles scores of them were arrested when they attempted deviating from prior approved routes.
Over twenty tear gas canisters were fired by the police at deviant demonstrators to cow them into submission.
