Police, Protestors Clash Over Demo (VIDEO)

A demonstration to mount pressure on the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters’ register for the 2016 General Elections turned chaotic on Wednesday.

This was when some members of the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) decided to veer off the approved route.

The confusion started near the Cathedral Junction at Adabraka when the demonstrators veered off the agreed route to the Hearts Park and took the road leading to the EC office to present their petition.

The police immediately blocked the road leading to the area, and when the demonstrators insisted, they fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse them.

The demonstrators were made up of members of LMVCA, Movement for Change (MFC) and Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG).
