Aspirant National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ledzokuku, Gilbert Mensah Amartey, has blamed the area�s under development on poor leadership. The businessman revealed after filing his nomination a few days ago that he has what it takes to turn around the fortunes of the area when given the nod. Brimming with optimism, Mr Amartey pointed out that his competitors, comprising incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Sena Okiti-Duah, former MP, Nii Nortey Duah and former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Daniel Amartey, will pose no threat to him, in spite of their popularity. He told journalists that he is contesting �because I feel we need good leadership at Ledzokuku as the area is suffering from leadership crisis which needs to be addressed and with my caliber, capacity and strength I would deal with the problems the area.� He added that unity is his top-most priority and his ability to connect with the people is unmatched as he strives to pull everybody together to foster development. Responding to his immediate plans for the area, he mentioned he would concentrate much on education, especially in the senior high level and subsequently improve the living standards of the people, particularly the youth. �There is lack of unity in the area and there is some huge detachment, especially between the grassroots and leadership and I would ensure to bridge the gap between government and the governed. �I will ensure accountability and integrity in the constituency and with connection with the outside world, I would ensure change and transformation in Teshie through several social interventions,� he added. His campaign dubbed �Change Powered by Unity�, he noted, will shun tribal politics but will focus on bringing everybody on board and share ideas to develop the constituency.
