NPP Goes Hi-Tech

Holders of a launched New Patriotic Party (NPP) identity card can now transact business with their cards just like other debit cards used by financial institutions in the country. The Electronic identity card it was revealed also serves as a payment system for all its members and sympathizers to be able to financially contribute towards the running of the party, through the platform. The introduction of the electronic membership cards for its old and new members is also aimed at reducing incidents of the issuance of fake cards by unauthorized companies to unsuspecting members of the NPP. These initiatives, according to the party, are geared towards broadening the ownership base of the party, while ensuring a dubious-free process, as to who becomes a stakeholder in the party. With the launch, card bearing members and sympathizers of the NPP can now load monies into their cards to pay their dues, contribute any amount of money to the party and purchase party items including paraphernalia which would be delivered directly to their doorstep. In his opening remarks, the General Secretary of the NPP Kwabena Agyei Agyepong disclosed that the current systems creates an interface for members to interact and share ideas unlike in the past where it was difficult for members. Imposters he added can easily be given up under the new system and announced that IT experts had given their blessing to the system they described as security proof. The national Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Awentami Afoko during the media launch at the Airport West Hotel in Accra underscored the importance of party members getting enrolled onto the new system to become members of the bigger party. According to him, the NPP has always been a pacesetter in technology and therefore observed that the current system adopted by the party would enhance the ability of party supporters at the grassroots to connect to each other. Mr. Afoko hinted that the launch of the new card is a prelude of good things to come, in 2017 when the party comes into power and urged party members across the country to endeavor to register when the platforms are created at designated centres in the future. A member of the Finance Committee of the NPP, Mr. Raphael Felli on behalf of the Acting Chairman, Dr. K.K. Sarpong, disclosed that the finance committee after the evaluation of several proposals settled on Paymanex in view of the fact it had proven it had the capacity to solve most existing problems of the party and more. He was convinced that the PAYMANEX with the current technology would be able to raise sufficient funds for the party to embark on numerous activities that would inure to its electoral fortunes in 2016. Mr. Felli urged the party�s administration to implement the recommendations of the Finance Committee to derive the benefits thereof. A representative of PAYMANEX, the company which has officially been assigned by the NPP to issue the electronic cards to members nationwide, Mrs. Sheila Bartels, took participants through the processes involved in acquiring the new card. She outlined distinct features of the card and disclosed that this was the first of its kind in the country and commended the NPP for choosing the latest technology promising her outfit would live up to its expectation.
